Sandwall, who was born in Sweden in 1975, was educated at Beckmans School of Design in Stockholm, graduating from there in 1999. After leaving college, she founded Sandwall Design to focus on architectural projects and product design, though her portfolio also includes interior design projects. She has creaated a varied range of products, from office furniture to doors, for renowned companies such as Asplunds, SnickarPer, SMD Design and Voice. In 2001, she received the Utmärkt Svensk Form, translated to mean the Excellent Swedish design award in English, which was handed out by the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design from 1983 to 2002. This award was for a door design. She has also won several Swedish Elle Decoration Awards—one for best outdoor furniture and one for best kitchen product of the year.

After completing a master’s degree in product design from Ecole Nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, she moved to Sweden and founded her design business in 2000, creating a company that has become a platform for wide-ranging work in product design, art direction and visual performance. The multi-disciplinary company has produced furniture, textiles, lighting, glassware and graphic design.
