Viceversa Pendant

The Viceversa Pendant

The cone is the starting point for every design in the Caratteri collection— Bottegga Intreccio’s first incursion into lighting, created in collaboration with architect Maurizio Bernabei. In the Viceversa Pendant, two distinct conical modules meet unexpectedly to form an hourglass shape. Two-hundred-plus meters of bamboo wicker—woven using the Renaissance era intreccio technique by master artisans in Mogliano, Italy—lend the Viceversa Pendant textural appeal. The result is a sculptural fixture that made waves as a 2018 Wallpaper* Design Award winner. Available in natural finishes, black or white lacquers.

Designer

Mogliano-based brand Bottega Intreccio aims to bridge old and new by recruiting a rotating cast of young design talent to collaborate with their master artisans, who are experts at the Renaissance-era craft of intreccio weaving. For the brand’s first lighting collection, they partnered with Maurizio Bernabei, a fellow innovator from Italy’s Marche region. An architect who later received a master’s degree in industrial design from Milan’s Scuola Politecnica, Bernabei works at retail furniture specialist HMY Group while simultaneously collaborating on special-edition designs with European brands. His creations range from playful kitchenware to modernist sinks to a buzzy collection of seating for office waiting rooms dubbed #waitingfor. The Viceversa Pendant he designed for Bottega Intreccio’s Carraterri lighting collection was a 2018 Wallpaper* Design Awards winner.
