Digital Imaging Entrepreneur
When a company produces stunning visuals, both static and moving, for brands on par with Victoria’s Secret, Neiman Marcus, Estee Lauder, Grey Advertising, Adidas, LVMH, Saatchi and Saatchi, Showtime, NBC Universal and Warner Bros, a knowledge of what constitutes high style at its greatest heights is innately understood by the person steering its rudder. And so it is with Steve Kalalian, the CEO of the Industrial Color Brands, his life-long passion for the arts and technology the driving force behind his varied ambitions. Case in point, his spot on the forefront of the digital imaging industry has been a solid one since he founded Impact Digital in 1991.
This early endeavor evolved into Industrial Color Brands and GLOBALedit®—a group of vertically integrated companies undertaking high-end retouching, still and video capture, post-production, and CGI (3D computer graphics) that includes Smashbox Studios. The brand’s offerings also include the creative workflow software GLOBALedit®, which—combined with the exceptionally high quality of its equipment rentals—means the photo studios tucked within the company’s 40,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art headquarters in Tribeca are teeming with any number of notable brands involved in the business of their own branding.
Always searching for inspiration and embracing new ideas, Steve strives daily to pioneer production and bring innovative solutions to the creatives who keep his company stretching beyond the norm—not just in the Tribeca headquarters but in the company’s satellite offices and studios in Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky. The 200 talented creative professionals and software developers who work for him have helped him make Industrial Color Brands the global go-to source when only the most polished way of presenting themselves is the goal.
Steve’s companies have received several industry awards including APPY, Effie, Art Directors Club, One Club, Ad Age and American Graphic Design awards, as well as the Los Angeles Business Council Architectural Award. From Jay Z’s Magna Carter World Tour to Rag & Bone’s viral fashion film, the company’s 2016 motion reel highlights its full suite of creative production and post-production services. It includes work for Audi, Sephora, Vince Camuto and Alexander Wang—a click-through to this video is well worth the visit if you are craving a splash of visual stimulation that will leave you wanting more!
Steve peered into our product choices and picked the Ceraunavolta 2 designed by Edmondo Testaguzza and Matteo Ugolini for Karman as his favorite fixture. Given his visual flair, we see this as our version of winning a golden globe!
