Described by his fans as an eclectic visionary, Christian Piccolo was born in 1977 in Montebelluna, Italy. After graduating from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, he went straight to work as a product and interior designer, dedicating his early research to exploring plastics in an effort to create a minimalist language that was both formal and rational. His preferred forms of expression are reduced to the essentials—facts versus fiction—and often to the purely abstract. This is one designer with an objective to free everything he creates from any sign of surface decoration, favoring a focus on the possibilities offered by space in the realm of pure form.

Along with his explorations in plastics, Piccolo devoted significant energy to designing in ceramics, his first product developments in this material leading to lighting. He has participated in some of the world’s most noted international design shows and exhibitions, including the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Cersaie in Bologna, ISH in Frankfurt, Abitare il Tempo in Verona, Macef in Milan (Now HOMI), Light + Building in Frankfurt, and Maison & Objet in Paris. The Italian designer envisioned the Inbox Outdoor, Outbox Outdoor and Game Outdoor lighting fixtures for Torremato, which are included in our Terra Collection. These clever exterior lights are distributed exclusively through Global Lighting in North America.
