UK-based Benjamin Hubert founded his eponymous design studio in London, drawing together a team of industrial designers, researchers and engineers who work across a variety of disciplines to create furniture, lighting and consumer goods, and to actualize architectural installations and interior design projects. Hubert’s emphasis is on creating timeless objects that do not respond to trends or fashion. Instead, they rely on usability analysis, materiality, sustainability and a process of visual reductionism. Research and development is an important piece of the Hubert puzzle, the team of designers and engineers on his team constantly questioning how to make products that are easier to use, more efficient, and that engage meaningfully with their users and their environment.

The Loom pendant, which Global Lighting distributes in North America for Swedish manufacturer Zero Interior Lighting, proves the designer is honoring his philosophy in his work. And the trendsetters who hand out awards agree. Amongst the many he and his team have received—an IMM Cologne d3, a “Best Lighting Design” award, a number of British Design Awards (for “Designer of the Year” and “Product of the Year”), an Audi young designer of the year, a Blueprint 100% Design Award, and an EDIDA (Elle Decoration International Design Awards)—the firm has received two for the Loom, an IF product design award and a Red Dot Product Design award. We couldn’t be more proud to bring this unique, statuesque light fixture that has created lots of buzz to the U.S. and Canada!
